Dissemination

Dissemination and Implementation

CSO aims to ensure the widest and fastest possible dissemination of the research it supports; thereby encouraging the rapid uptake of research finding into clinical practice.

Executive summaries of final reports of CSO funded work are made available on these webpages helping to ensure rapid dissemination of research findings from CSO-funded research

As part of CSO's dissemination strategy and to encourage a culture of evidence-based practice, CSO is also involved in:

UK PubMed Central - We set great store by journal publication as the primary means of disseminating findings to the research community and in 2006 made it a condition of our funding that all papers resulting from CSO funded research should be made freely available within 6 months of publication.

UKCRN Portfolio Database; a database of ongoing clinical and related research studies

NHS Centre for Reviews and Dissemination responsible for disseminating the Cochrane library, Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effectiveness (DARE), NHS Economic Evaluation database (NHS HEED), and Health Technology and Assessment (HTA) database.
Public symposia on areas of research of relevance to the Scottish population
Funding is available for investigators on CSO grants towards attendance at conferences where they are presenting the findings of CSO funded research. Applications should be submitted on Form 6. CSO will usually only provide funding for one conference per project grant.
