The Principal Applicant must be a permanent salaried member of staff in a Scottish Institution.
The grantholding institution must be in Scotland.
Applicants from any discipline or profession may apply for project/small grants.
Grants may be awarded for research in Higher Education Institutions, NHS Boards, hospitals, medical schools, primary care or other appropriate centres.
Grants are not usually awarded to voluntary organisations, but researchers from voluntary organisations may be co-applicants on grants based in HEIs, NHS Boards, etc.
Applications declined on scientific grounds by any of the UK Health Departments, other public funding bodies or a Research Council cannot be considered by CSO.
Applicants who have failed to submit a satisfactory report on completion of research funded by CSO are ineligible for further funding until the report has been received and accepted.
