The purpose of this prestigious scheme is to bring experienced researchers into Scotland to encourage an exchange of ideas and to enrich the understanding of issues that concern the Scottish government. The aim is to foster collaboration with researchers, practitioners and policy makers based here.
There are a range of possibilities for the projects which fellows could engage in, some of them being:
- Transferring topic-specific or methodological knowledge to Scottish colleagues, and/or
- Developing a research collaboration within Scotland, and/or
- Conducting desk-based research such as systematic reviews, secondary analysis of existing data, or comparative health systems analysis.
Fellows would be expected to publish at least one significant paper based on their work during the period of the fellowship, and to present their work to Health Directorates or health service audiences on at least one occasion.
Fellows are expected to
work on a topic relevant to current health policy in Scotland.
