These Fellowships (tenable in either health services or experimental/translational medicine research) are available for medically and dentally qualified researchers who are within the postgraduate training pathway.
These lectureships posts are for medical doctors in speciality training who have completed a PhD but wish to spend 50% of their time on research and 50% of time on clinical training. As training posts there are available until CCT is reached.
These fellowships are jointly funded by CSO, the Scottish Government Health Directorates and Scottish Universities. The application process for this scheme is administered by the Academy of Medical Sciences who assist an international selection panel with peer review and provide independent mentorship to those appointed.
The scheme represents the post-CCT element of the Scottish Clinical Research Excellence Development Scheme and provides an attractive research-focused entry point to a permanent clinical academic career in one of five excellent research environments.
These Fellowships are to support NHS-funded clinical staff in developing a research career within their NHS post. This includes – qualified doctors, nurses, AHPs, pharmacists, biomedical/clinical scientists, public health specialists.
The award provides funding for protected time to contribute to, conduct and lead clinical research. This will strengthen the research culture in the NHS and increase capacity in priority areas.
