Health Improvement, Protection and Services Research Committee – Members Wanted
The Chief Scientist Office is looking to recruit new members to its research funding committee. This committee considers applications for research aimed at improving or protecting population health or improving the quality, safety and/or effectiveness of healthcare in Scotland.
We are currently particularly interested in receiving expressions of interest from those with a research background in:
- Medical Statistics
- Health Economics
- Public Health Trials
- Qualitative and mixed methods research
- Clinical academics particularly in the areas of general practice, nursing and midwifery, paediatrics, psychology and psychiatry
- Data science, digital and AI development and evaluation
The committee is not looking to recruit in other areas currently, and expressions of interest in other areas are not invited at this time.
The committee meets twice per year in Edinburgh. Those submitting expressions of interest should be based in a Scottish University or Health Board and have expertise in the conduct of health research in areas within the remit of the committee, and experience of the appraisal of research grant applications.
If you are interested in becoming a committee member, please email a letter to the CSO Grants Team which sets out your particular expertise in terms of subject areas, discipline, research experience, and any relevant experience gained from other committees. Decisions on membership are taken by CSO, in consultation with the committee chair and vice-chair.
