NHS Researcher Development Fellowship – applications now open
The CSO NHS Researcher Development Fellowship is an introductory funded scheme for NHS employees currently working as a nurse, midwife, allied health professional, pharmacist, healthcare scientist or others to gain experience and develop expertise in research alongside their existing NHS duties.
The fellowship can be used in a versatile way with three pathways possible: First Steps, Pre-Doctoral, and Transition.
- The First Steps Award provides a realistic introduction to research through participation in a research study with mentorship and support regarding the next steps.
- The Pre-Doctoral Award is aimed at candidates who already have some research experience and can be used to develop additional skills or to provide the time and mentorship to create a competitive PhD fellowship application.
- The Transition Award is for those who have completed a PhD and provides support for the next steps of their research career.
This is also an opportunity for experienced NHS researchers to mentor and support health professionals at the start or their research journey.
The closing date for applications is Midday, Monday 11th January 2027.
