Applications Open for SPARCC Awards

Applications are now open for the Scotland Partnership Advancing Research Careers for Clinicians (SPARCC) Awards, a new Medical Research Council (MRC)-funded programme supporting clinicians to develop their research careers.

Two funding schemes are offered which provide protected academic time for up to 12 months: the SPARCC Postdoctoral Award Scheme and the SPARCC Return to Research Award Scheme. Award holders will be based at one of the five collaborating universities: Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow or St Andrews.

Applications are open to university- or NHS-employed clinical researchers, with the current call closing at midday on Tuesday 8 September 2026.
