Response Mode Committee
All applications to the Chief Scientist Office response mode research grant schemes are assessed by one of two research advisory committees. The CSO Response mode research grant scheme accepts applications for up to 36 months and up to a total of £350,000 at 80% Full Economic Cost.
National Institute for Health and Care Research
CSO operates within the wider landscape of UK health research funding and contributes to a National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). This allows researchers based in Scotland to apply for the majority of NIHR Programmes.
Researchers in Scotland are also automatically eligible to apply for the NIHR Global Health Research Programme which supports high-quality applied health research for the direct and primary benefit of people in low and middle-income countries (LMICs), using official development assistance (ODA) funding.
Research Design Study for Cardiometabolic Obesity Prevention Study (COPS)
CSO, in collaboration with the Office for Life Sciences (OLS), is inviting applications for a new funding opportunity to support the design of a high-impact prospective clinical trial to be delivered in Scotland. Up to £650,000 is available for the 12-month research design phase with the opportunity for successful applicants to secure additional funding to deliver the full clinical trial.
Infrastructure Funding
CSO also invests through NHS Research Scotland in infrastructure to support research studies in Scotland. More information about this support can be found at the following links:
