Posted by: Julie Simpson - Posted on:

The Chief Scientist Office is looking to extend the clinical academic expertise on its Health Improvement, Protection & Services (HIPS) Research Committee.  This Committee considers applications for research aimed at improving or protecting population health or improving the quality, safety and/or effectiveness of healthcare in Scotland.

Expressions of interest are particularly welcome from established clinical academics in disciplines outside of those currently covered within the committee.  The committee presently includes expertise in: general practice, nursing, infectious disease, psychology, and psychiatry.  Those submitting expressions of interest should be based in a Scottish University or Health Board and have expertise in the conduct of health research in areas within the remit of the committee, and experience of the appraisal of research grant applications.

If you are interested, please email a letter to Tom Barlow setting out your expertise, your experience in health research and of the appraisal of research grant applications, and why you are interested in the role.  Selection will be based on review of the expressions of interest by the Chair and Vice-Chair of the Committee and CSO.

Additional information on the Health Improvement, Protection and Services Committee.

If you would like to discuss the role in advance of submitting an expression of interest please contact Tom Barlow.

Expressions of interest should be submitted by close 8 July 2022.
