Tessa Jowell Neurology Fellowship – Glasgow
The Tessa Jowell Neurology Fellowship is a first-of-its-kind training opportunity aimed at trainees during advanced years of specialist training in neurology (ST6 onwards), near completion of certification or those have recently completed General Neurology training and want to develop a specialist interest in neuro-oncology.
Through a 12-month funded Fellowship, the successful candidate will gain expertise in all aspects of the diagnosis and management of patients with a brain tumour. The Fellow will also have protected time to undertake research which impacts the diagnosis and treatment of brain tumours, providing unique experience that will prepare the candidate to lead future research improving brain tumour patient care.
This fellowship is based at The Institute of Neurological Sciences at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. The Neurology Service is the largest neurology department in Scotland, with access to comprehensive clinical facilities and a dedicated Teaching and Learning Centre. Here the Fellow will join a research-driven, multidisciplinary neuro-oncology clinical team, providing them a wealth of training opportunities. Glasgow is also part of the Scottish Brain Tumour Research Centre of Excellence dedicated to advancing the development of new treatments for glioblastoma, with the aim of producing the evidence required to rapidly progress these treatments into clinical trials for patients in Scotland and beyond.
The Fellowship is supervised by Dr Emanuela Molinari, Consultant Neurologist with specialist interest in Neuro-Oncology, serving the West of Scotland neuro-oncology population. With extensive experience in both clinical practice and research, she has published in leading journals such as Neuro-Oncology Practice and The Lancet Child & Adolescent Health among others.
Please note that as this fellowship aims to develop the neurology workforce in Scotland, we are seeking a candidate who is currently based in Scotland and/or who intends to remain in Scotland post fellowship.
