Posted by: Julie Simpson - Posted on:

The Chief Scientist Office is looking to appoint new members to its Translational Clinical Studies Research Funding Committee.

Expressions of interest are invited from established clinical and non-clinical researchers based within Scottish Universities or Health Boards (including academic scientists, medical doctors and allied health professionals).

The Committee considers applications for research aimed at improving treatments and / or diagnostic approaches for conditions of clinical importance to the population of Scotland.

The committee meets twice per year in Edinburgh.

We are currently particularly interested in receiving expressions of interest from those with a research background in:

  • Clinical Oncology
  • Mental Health
  • Endocrine/Metabolic Disorders
  • Diabetes
  • Regenerative Medicine / Cellular Therapeutics

CSO is also keen to increase the diversity of institutional representation on the Committee.

If you are interested in becoming a Committee member, please email a cover letter to Louise Campbell by Friday 17 February 2023.

The cover letter should set out your particular expertise in terms of subject areas, discipline and research methods, and any relevant experience gained from other committees. We will keep your details on file for consideration as places become available. Final decisions on membership are taken by CSO, in consultation with the Committee Co-Chairs.

If you would like to discuss the role in advance of submitting an expression of interest, please contact Alan McNair.
