Reducing Drug Deaths Innovation Challenge

The Scottish Health Innovation Partnership and the Office of Life Sciences are investing up to £5 million including VAT, across two competitions. Their purpose is to develop disruptive, innovative solutions that focus on detecting, responding to, and intervening in, early acute risk of non-fatal and fatal overdose.

The challenge is open for applications until Friday 21 April 2023 11:00am.

This Innovation Challenge supports the aims of the Addiction Healthcare Mission, the UK’s Drugs Strategy, the Scottish Government’s National Mission on Drugs and shared UK wide priorities to reduce drug related deaths and harm. The challenge is being run in close consultation with the Welsh Government and Northern Ireland Executive to increase the potential for uptake and use of the innovations in all UK healthcare systems. 

The challenge comprises of two Small Business Research Initiatives (SBRI) competitions.

A launch event to provide further background and an opportunity for applicants to ask questions is scheduled to be held on 10 February at 11am.
