Funding to support clinical researchers, providing protected research time, up to 0.5 FTE, and a clinical researcher hub offering networking and mentorship.
With funding from Medical Research Council, we can offer a SPARCC award to individuals for a defined time (between 6 & 12 months) and for a defined purpose via two schemes, as outlined below. Successful applicants will be based at any one of the Scottish medical schools: Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow or St Andrews. Applications are invited from university or NHS-employed clinical researchers, as outlined below.

Who is eligible?
Nursing, midwifery and allied health professionals who are interested in undertaking a period of research.
Post-CCT NHS consultants or GPs who wish to undertake research.
Scottish NTN holders who are not clinical lecturers, as well as SCREDS clinical lecturers.
SPARCC Postdoctoral Award Scheme
The SPARCC Postdoctoral Award Scheme is designed to build research capacity across Scotland by providing up to 50% research time for clinicians who have already completed a research degree, including medical doctors who hold a Scottish NTN who are working towards the completion of their specialty training, and qualified nurses, midwives and allied health professionals.

SPARCC Return to Research Award Scheme
The SPARCC Return to Research Award Scheme is designed to build research capacity across Scotland by providing up to two sessions (one day a week) of protected research time for medical consultants, GPs and nurses, midwives and allied health professionals who have completed their training and wish to re-engage with research activity. Candidates should not currently have any allocated research time – if you already have funded research sessions then you are not eligible to apply for further funded sessions through this scheme.
